The Zongo and Inner Cities Development Minister Dr. Mustapha Hamid says his pride as a minister will be to see every child born in the Zongo communities educated.

The Minister who was speaking at the closing ceremony of an ICT training program for graduates from selected communities in Accra said despite negative comments about the programs being rolled out by his ministry, he is focused on ensuring that children in the Zongo and inner cities get educated first.

“my biggest pride by the time I leave the ministry should be that, a thousand people can say through the programs initiated by the ministry my life has changed. My pride will not be in the astro-turfs, school buildings or even the drainage systems that we will put up in these communities”. The outspoken minister said.

Dr. Hamid stressed that the government’s goal is to ensure that at least in 20 years the least educated person in the country should be a senior high school leaver reasons the free senior high school policy was introduced.

The ICT training program was designed to help provide support services to graduates as a means of preparing them for the job market. 109 people benefitted from the program which was supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation of Germany.

Beneficiaries will also have internship opportunities.
