Okere Member of Parliament Dan Botwe has announced he is unwell and seeking treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre.

It comes after reports that he has contracted COVID-19 along with Education Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh.

In a statement, the veteran politician said he has taken a test for COVID-19 and awaiting results.

An earlier statement by the Press secretary of the Education minister noted the minister had done an earlier test prior to the NPP primaries after feeling unwell but results came out negative.

Ghana’s Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu is currently recuperating from the virus.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana’s biggest medical facility the Korlebu Teaching Hospital is also reported to have contracted the virus. More than 90 people have died of the virus in Ghana with scores others recovered.
