An Immigration Officer AICO I Michael Otu stationed in the Nandom Municipality of the Upper West region has been shot dead by unknown gunmen at Kokoligu a village between Nandom and Hamile.
According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Upper West Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service, IBN Yussif Duranah Abdul Mumin Seidu, the officer was shot in line of duty.
According to the PRO, the incident happened on Tuesday March 22, 2022 at about 1815hrs at Kokoligu, a village between Nandom and Hamile.
The statement indicated that the command suspects that AICO I Michael Otu (deceased) was attacked by smugglers.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased officer has since been deposited at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Hospital awaiting doctor’s report, the statement said.
