A Barber said to have visited a friend who is in lawful custody at the Baatsona Police Station with 13 wraps of whitish substance suspected to be narcotic drugs has been charged and remanded by the Circuit Court in Accra.
This was after Abdulai Hamza, the accused pleaded not guilty to two counts of unlawful possession or control of narcotic drugs contrary to statutes.
The court presided over by Her Honour Mrs. Rosemond Baah Torsu remanded him into police custody for the next two weeks and adjourned the case to October 10, 2022.
Inspector Josephine Lamptey, the Prosecutor in the case told the court that, the Complainants are police personnel from Baatsona Police station whilst the accused is a barber and resides at Baatsona.
The Prosecutor told the court that, on September 18, 2022, at about 1400 hours, the accused called at the Station to visit his friend by name Sedzro who is a remand prisoner to ask him what food he would like to eat.
Inspector Lamptey, said, the Police permitted him to talk to the remand prisoner but the accused’s movement raised suspicion in the minds of the police and a thorough search was conducted on him.
The Prosecutor said, upon the search, 13 wraps of whitish substance and three wraps of plant material, all suspected to be Narcotic drugs were found in his shirt which he claimed ownership of.
She told the court that, the exhibits have been forwarded to the forensic science laboratory for examination and report while the accused was charged with the offence and arraigned.
