Mr Charles Bissue is the Western regional Secretary of the NPP

Former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, (ICIM) Charles Bissue has turned himself in to the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor in a statement last week served notice that it has the power to arrest without a warrant, any person it reasonably suspects of having committed corruption or corruption-related offences.

This is in exercise of its police powers.

The notice came after an Accra Human Rights Court 2, restrained the OSP from executing an arrest warrant against Charles Bissue.

The Court following an application by lawyers of Mr Bissue made an order for Interim Injunction restraining the OSP, its agents, assigns and/or persons howsoever described and claiming through it from:

  • Executing an arrest warrant against Charles Bissue
  • Applying for further arrest warrants pending the determination of the substantive matter against Mr. Bissue.
  • Publishing notices purporting Mr. Bissue to be wanted pending the determination of the substantive matter.

The orders were to last for 10 days.
