Dr Ernest Addison, Governor of BoG

The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has stated that the call by the Minority in Parliament for the resignation of the Governor of Bank of Bank (BoG), Dr. Ernest Addision is to ensure accountability.

The Minority in Parliament has stated that the Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Ernest Addison and his deputies cannot defend their continuous stay in office.

In response to the Governor’s reasons for taking some decisions, Minority leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson stated that it will take the nation more than 20 years to fix the mess that the current managers of BoG have created.

Mr. Ato Forson further stated that there is an urgent need for BoG’s internal operations to be reviewed to ensure that no losses would be posted or repeated this year.

In a tweet the Builsa South lawmaker stated that Parliament is a body to probe matters such as the challenges that have bedeviled the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

“Our call on Governors of BOG to resign is in addition to processes we are activating in Parliament to ensure accountability as far as the gargantuan loss of Ghc60 billion.

“The executive is complicit as the BOG’s own statement indicates. Thus, Parliament is the body to publicly probe this matter,” Dr. Apaak stated in a tweet.

The Minority in Parliament has however vowed to stop unilateral writing off of over 48 billion cedis of the government debt to the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of the Parliament further questioned the assertion of economic recovery by the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.

However the Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta insists current indicators vindicates his position.
