Reports reaching Empire News indicate that five persons have died over an explosion that occurred at Omni quarry at Kobina Ano Krom-Shama in Western region.
The incident happened Saturday September 9, 2023 evening as some of the explosives were left undetonated and it later detonated after it was triggered and splitting apart many workers on night duty.
Some Ghanaians and Chinese are reported to be amongst the casualties.
However, reports currently tickling in are that three Ghanaians and one Chinese have died from an explosion at the Omni Quarry site at Kobinaanokrom in the Shama district.
Several dismembered body parts have so far been identified.
Eight were sent to Effia Nkwanta regional hospital, 6 have since been discharged and two remain in critical condition after suffering some injuries on their faces.
The explosion had a rippling effect on adjoining communities resulting in damages to buildings and properties in the catchment area.
