Polls across the various voting centers in the Volta region have come to successful end as the ruling New Patriotic Party elects its flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.

Provisional results in so far indicate a marginal win for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong in the Volta region who has garnered 5,850 votes out of 11,015 valid votes representing 53.1%.

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia polled 4,984 votes representing 45.2%.

Whereas Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto polled 115 ballots representing 1%, Francis Addai-Nimo got a paltry 66 votes representing 0.6%.

There were 141 rejected ballots.

The regional figure shows Kennedy Ohene Agyapong winning 11 out of the 18 constituencies while Dr. Bawumia came second winning the other 7 constituencies.

Constituencies that fell for Kennedy Agyapong include Central, South and North Tongu, Keta and Anlo constituencies, Ketu South and North Constituencies, Ho Central, Kpando, Hohoe and North Dayi constituencies.

The Vice President also led in constituencies such as Akatsi South and North, South Dayi, Agotime-Ziope, Adaklu, Afadjato South and Ho West Constituencies.

Across the 18 constituencies in the Volta region, some 11,995 delegates were expected to vote in the presidential primaries.

This number include 11,185 Pollen Station Executives and Electoral Area Coordinators and Constituency Executives. Others include 2 Founding Members, 2 Regional Council Members, 1 Regional Minister, 1 Member of Parliament, 16 Tescon representatives, 18 Municipal and District Chief Executives and 17 Regional Executives.

Out of the 11,995 delegates, an impressive number of 11,152 turned up for the elections across the designated voting centers.
