The flag bearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Agyapong has won over 30 percent of the total votes cast at the party’s Headquarters in Accra.  

The NPP is expected to announce the winner of November 4, 2023 presidential election for a candidate to lead the party to the 2024 general election.

The primary is being held at all the constituencies across the country.

Contestants in the high stakes election include: Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Ken Agyapong, former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and former Member of Parliament for Mampong, Addai Francis Nimoh.

After the voting ended at the party’s headquarters where the President Akufo-Addo, his Vice Mahamudu Bawumia, the National Executive Committee among other key members of the party and in government voted.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong – 133 representing 33.84%

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia – 254 representing 64.63%

Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto – 2 representing 0.51%

Francis Addai-Nimoh – 4 representing 1.02%
