Award-winning Ghanaian gospel artist Piesie Esther, known for her soul-stirring gospel tunes, has expressed her views on the musical style of Shatta Wale.

According to her, she appreciates Shatta Wale and his craft, but he will not qualify for a music feature with her.

Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, she acknowledged the artistry of Shatta Wale but emphasized the distinct nature of gospel music, stating, “I appreciate Shatta Wale’s talent; I like his vibe, and his ‘My Level’ song is one of my favorites. I don’t know how Shatta will sing gospel. I don’t see gospel in Shatta.”

According to her, though Ghanaians are yet to understand the concept of a gospel musician doing music with a secular musician, she would like to collaborate with Kuami Eugene, Kidi, Kofi Kinaata, Akwaboah, Fameye and Black Sherif over Shatta Wale.

She stated, however, that she likes secular musicians like Shatta Wale, Black Sherif, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy, among others, and does listen to their songs on the radio.

The comments were made when she was asked about her thoughts on the fusion of gospel and secular music.

She is gearing up for her Flora Made by Grace concert at the UPSA Auditorium on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
