The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lauded the Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, for his impactful lobbying skills, which, according to the party, have led to a significant improvement in the road infrastructure of Koforidua, the regional capital.

Addressing the media in Koforidua on Tuesday November 28, 2023 Eugene Bempong on Wednesday, the New Juaben South Constituency Communications Director of the NPP, emphasized the substantial progress achieved in revitalizing the town’s road network.

The dire condition of Koforidua’s roads had triggered public dissatisfaction, prompting a group called Koforidua Development Advocate to stage a demonstration. Hon. Okyere Baafi, prior to the protest, assured the public that the roads would be fixed before the year’s end.

The NPP acknowledged the completion of various asphalt overlay projects, including Chief Palace and Srodae roads, Aya Junction to Old traffic, and Koforidua Principal street to Effiduase traffic light. They highlighted an ongoing project securing 32KM of roads initiated by Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, set to conclude by the end of 2023.

Attention is not only focused on the town’s immediate roads but also on adjourning roads, with plans to redevelop Nyamekrom Road, Abogiri Road, and Magazine Roads.

Nyamekrom road for instance has been reclassified under cocoa road, and the contractor is expected on site soon to complete the project initiated in 2020.

The party also acknowledged an additional 8KM of roads lobbied for by Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, showcasing his dedication to community development.

The Secondary City World Bank-funded Jackson Park Redevelopment is near completion, with plans to develop the Zongo Market and the road leading to Apack Junction in Zongo.

“The Local Government through the Secondary City World Bank funded project is undertaking the Jackson Park Redevelopment. Phase 1 was to redevelop the Jackson Park into a modern park and more user friendly. Phase 2 of that money will be used to develop the Zongo Market and the road leading to Apack Junction in Zongo. This shall be done with pavement blocks but not Asphalt. The other parts of the Zongo Roads will be done by the same contractor called Maripoma”.

Commending President Akufo Addo and Vice President Bawumia for their commitment to infrastructure development in the regional capital, the NPP expressed gratitude to the people of Koforidua for their patience and faith in the government’s efforts.

“The NPP government over the years has shown good faith and a lot of commitment to developing New Juaben South and we are so grateful to H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo and the Member of Parliament for his immense contribution in lobbying for numerous developmental projects for the constituency. We would like to use this medium to also thank the good people of Koforidua for being patient with the Government and having faith in the MP to deliver on his promise of fixing the Koforidua roads.
