Some four hundred (400) Persons With Disability (PWDs) have benefitted from a Christmas donation outreach organized by Media Personality and Chief Executive Officer of the K. Adu Gas Stoves and Ovens Company Limited, Ebenezer Kwabena Adu popularly known as K. Adu.

Mr. K. Adu has gained international recognition as an industrious Ghanaian specialized in the manufacturing of domestic and industrial Ovens and Kitchen Stoves.

The annual outreach the fourth of its kind saw the hearing and visually impaired as well as the physically challenged from districts in the Ashanti Region, converge at the premises of E.I.B.’s Abusua and Ultimate FM to receive items including bags of rice, cooking oil, tinned tomatoes and canned fish.

The beneficiaries who were fed breakfast and lunch were also treated to good music amidst motivational messages from Mr. K.Adu and members of the K. Adu lovers Association Worldwide.

Speaking to Ultimate News, Mr. K. Adu expressed worry that several donations in such festive seasons were directed to widows, orphans and prisoners to the neglect of persons with disability.

““Whenever I drive around, I see these persons with disability either blind or physically challenged standing in the streets begging. I believe aside the orphans and the widows, these persons are some of the most destitute who need our support,” he noted.

The philanthropist together with his K.Adu Lovers Association Worldwide fan base spent some eighty thousand Cedis (GHc80,000) feeding the PWDs, catering for their transportation to and from the EIB Kumasi premises to their various districts.

“Aside these donations, if I tell you the amount I have to pay as school fees for children and youth with disability, you will be shocked. I just pray my business expands to raise enough revenue to take care of their needs whenever they approach me,” Mr. K. Adu disclosed.

Skills Training

Mr. K. Ado who also hosts Adwumasua mmr3 to wit ‘time for Vocational and Technical Education and Training’ on Abusua 96.5 FM; further underscored the need for Persons With disability to be empowered to learn a trade.

He recounted how a PWD had now expanded his bamboo and bead craft business after he supported him with a three thousand cedis (GHc3000) startup capital.

“He came to me with a skill and asked for help. Now he has relocated to the capital Accra and doing wonderfully there,” he told reporter Ivan Heathcote – Fumador.

He recommended that families and communities take up the responsibility of introducing Persons With Disability to skills that could secure them a lucrative trade to live independent and dignified lives.

E.I.B. Support:

Mr. K. Adu expressed gratitude to the management of Ultimate FM and Abusua FM for supporting his agenda to reach out to the vulnerable in society.

“I would have gone to pay for a place to hold this outreach. But Management of Ultimate and Abusua FM have offered me this place to use for free. It’s been fulfilling working with the whole team here,” he commended.

Mr. Daniel Aggrey Business Manager – EIB Kumasi Cluster expressed the stations commitment to serving the needs of all segments of the society including Persons with disability.

“Our pledge is to make a positive difference in society though on air and tangible activities that touch lives. K. Adu is a part of the family and someone we feel fulfilled lending any support to. He can count on us anytime he is doing these social impact programs,” Mr. Aggrey stated.
