2024 NDC Primaries: Linda Awuni seeks to kick out Ramadan in Adentan

One constituency to keep a watchful eye on for the impending Parliamentary primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is Adentan where a young vibrant engineer Linda Awuni has thrown her heart into the race.

The seat currently occupied by Adamu Ramadan hardly maintains the same occupant twice.

Ramadan snatched the seat from NPP’s former Director of Communications Yaw Buaben Asamoah in 2020 having lost to him in 2016. The presence of Linda who appeals to and represents the aspirations of the youth has made the race much more keener. Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Nana Oye Bampoe Addo who lost to Ramadan in previous contests is also expected to stage a comeback. The NDC was only able to retain the Adentan seat in 2012 by replacing the incumbent Adu Asare with Ashie Moore who subsequently lost to Ramadan in the primaries.

Speaking after visiting the Adentan NDC constituency office where she declared her intention to contest for the slot, Miss Awuni disclosed she is in the race to save the party from losing the seat.

“To retain the Adentan seat to shore up our numerical strength in parliament, I’m the choice that can win us reelection in Adentan. We must take this seat back and I’m ready to take it for the NDC. God is with us, that’s why the NPP keeps failing every day.”

According to her, the decision to contest was based on calls by the delegates of the NDC, who have agreed to begin a Constituency consultation in the pursuit of her ambition.

Linda further stated her quest to lead the party in the Adentan Constituency was borne out of her resolve to ensure better leadership to bring about development under the next NDC administration.

The young engineer is counting on her youthfulness, courageous nature and philanthropic activities which has made her a darling to the supporters of the National Democratic Congress in the Adentan constituency to clinch the slot.

Linda believes her youthfulness would enhance her performance.  She has assured of her physical and mental readiness to lead Adentan to prosperity.
