Ghana’s Abeiku Jackson has won Ghana its first medal in swimming at the ongoing African games after finishing second in the finals of the fifty(50) meters butterfly.
Abeiku Jackson, captain of the Ghana swimming team, capitalized on the huge support of the home crowd to finish second just behind the favorite in Egypt, Ali Khalafalla, who won gold.
Abeiku Jackson secured Ghana’s historic feat in the pool with an impressive time of 24.23s, finishing closely behind Ali Khalafalla (23.93) with South Africa’s Hardin Eaton securing the third spot with a time of 24.42s.
Abeiku Jackson’s silver medal takes Ghana’s medal haul to four after Winifred Ntumi won three medals in weightlifting today.
Ghana now has one gold medal and 3 silver medals at the ongoing multi-sports event in Accra.
