The Black Satellites secured a 3-1 victory over their West African counterparts, Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium tonight, despite drawing goalless against Congo in their opening game.

The second Group A game win means Ghana secures top position with four points from two games, ensuring a strong qualifying position for the tournament’s semifinals.

Host nation, Ghana began the game with a strong start, securing the lead with a goal from Musibau Aziz in the 13th minute after goalkeeper Youkasseh Sanyang fumbled the ball.

Dreams FC’s Abdul Aziz Issah scored the Black Satellites’ second goal in the game, bringing the score to 2-0 after just four minutes after the first-half break.

Gambia’s shot stopper, Youkasseh Sanyang denied Musibau Aziz’s spot kick in the 75th minute. But Gambia responded with a goal by Ebrimah Ceesay in the 83rd minute.

Jerry Afriyie wrapped up the game on the 89th minute for the Black Satellites to secure a 3-1 win for Ghana.

Ghana will play Benin on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in their final group game.
