The Ghana Under 20 female team, Black Princesses, has been placed in a challenging group for the 2024 Fifa Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

The Black Princesses, making their seventh appearance at the tournament, will face Japan, New Zealand, and Austria in Group E.

The Black Princesses, led by Yusif Basigi, are determined to break their current streak of not progressing beyond the group stage in the competition.

Japan, 2018 champions are known for their technical prowess and disciplined play and are expected to be Ghana’s toughest opponent.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has increased its representation in the tournament to four teams, Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, and Cameroon, showcasing the growing strength of African women’s football.

The Black Princesses’ preparation and recent form provide a beacon of hope for a successful campaign.

Earlier this year, the team won the women’s football tournament at the 2023 African Games, with standout performances from players like Mukarama Abdulai.

The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 22, 2024.

Ghana will open their campaign against Austria at the Bogota El Techo Stadium on Monday, September 2, 2024.
