Jordan Ayew

Black Stars coach Otto Addo says Jordan Ayew played in his favorite position against the Central African Republic in the just ended World Cup qualifier in Kumasi.

Jordan Ayew’s outstanding performance against the CAR propelled Ghana to the top of Group I in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with the Black Stars now securing nine points from four games.

Coach Otto speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray revealed that Jordan Ayew played in his favorite position but it depends on the game and where he will need him.

“I think like I said in the press conference before, especially offensive players are known for goals but there’s a lot of defensive work there to do, and I think Jordan did quite well in the game. Surely this is his favorite position but I know he can also play at the flanks and in the midfield because he’s good, tactical, disciplined and has a good condition and for that depends on the game we need him and in this games we needed a number 9” he started.

Otto Addo further mentioned the uncertainty about Chad’s performance next year against the Black Stars, stating that they will need to analyze Chad first.

“I don’t know next year against Chad where he is going to play, it’s difficult therefore I’d have to analyze Chad first” he said.

Otto Addo emphasized the importance of teamwork as the most crucial aspect.

“And for me it always important that we win as a team not the player and it’s about where you will put the players to do the best for the team, but for me it always a teamwork”.

Ghana recently bolstered their World Cup qualification hopes with crucial victories over Mali (2-1) and the Central African Republic (4-3).
