The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama says the late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills was passionate about lifting the vulnerable.

In a Facebook post, the former President disclosed that his late boss also allocated resources to social welfare programmes during his tenure.

“My boss, President John Evans Atta Mills, was a selfless leader. He prioritized the needs of the nation over personal and political gain. When he took over from the NPP government, he was the first to cut his own salary as a sincere gesture to show solidarity with the economic hardships faced by many Ghanaians”, the former President stated.

Mr. Mahama continued: “He was passionate about lifting the vulnerable and duly allocated resources to social welfare programmes.”

According to him, the late former President also displayed a high level of integrity.

“He was a man who epitomized truth and honesty. From his life in Academia to his time as the IRS Commissioner, to becoming Vice President, and throughout his presidency, he lived as he preached—transparently!

“His reputation for integrity was widespread nationally and internationally. Forever in our hearts, Professor Mills.”
