The National Council of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has approved their flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s decision to select Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the impending 2024 General elections.
This endorsement for the Vice President followed meetings with the National Executive Council and the National Steering Committee of the party, and it was officially announced on Thursday.
Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, is the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and a former Education Minister.
His selection is considered a strategic move by Dr. Bawumia to strengthen support within the party and nationwide, particularly their stronghold the Ashanti region.
