Peter Toobu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa West, has announced a package of initiatives to enhance the welfare and living conditions of Ghana’s military personnel and veterans.
According to Toobu, the NDC government plans to construct and refurbish housing units across the country to provide decent accommodation for military personnel. Additionally, an Armed Forces Home Leadership Team will be established to oversee housing matters.
“Our men and women in uniform deserve fair compensation for their service,” he stated at the sectoral press briefing of the NDC’s manifesto.
The Commercial Military Hospital at Akari, in the Central Command, will be completed and equipped to provide quality healthcare services. Furthermore, new military hospitals will be constructed in Ho, Bolgatanga and Sefwi Wiawso
Toobu also announced plans to establish specialized professional departments in military hospitals nationwide.
“We want to ensure our military personnel receive top-notch medical care,” he explained.
In a significant move, the NDC government will introduce an enhanced retirement policy, including a dedicated department to support veterans. “We owe it to our retired personnel to provide necessary attention and care after decades of service,” Toobu said.
