Peter Toobu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa West, has outlined the National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) comprehensive plan to enhance Ghana’s national security.
Toobu emphasized strengthening border security and international cooperation to combat terrorism, terror financing, and foreign terrorist fighters. “We must protect our nation from external threats,” he stressed during the sectoral press briefing of the NDC’s manifesto.
The NDC promises to introduce a nationwide community policing program, investing in high-security infrastructure, training, and logistics to support intelligence gathering and national safety.
“This program will revolutionize community-police relations,” Toobu assured.
He criticized unfulfilled promises, citing the Alpha project’s uninstalled cameras at police stations.
“Empty promises undermine trust. We will deliver on our commitments.”
Toobu highlighted the importance of merit-based promotions, warning against interference.
“Men and women in uniform deserve respect. Tamper with promotions at your peril. We will strengthen diplomacy and confidence-building,” Toobu emphasized.
