FC Samartex

Ghana Premier League Champions Samartex FC failed to win their first leg game against Raja in the second preliminary for the CAF Champions League.

Following a 2-2 draw with Raja Casablanca in Accra, Samartex will need to put up an incredible show in Morocco next week if they hope to advance to the CAF Champions League group stage.

Mohamed Zrida opened the score early, but goals from Francis Gyetuah and Michael Ephson gave Samartex a lead before halftime.

However, Raja secured a crucial draw in the second half, gaining an advantage due to the away goals rule.

Raja Casablanca goalkeeper Anass Zniti struggled throughout the match, allowing Ephson’s first goal and fumbling for the second, but Samartex couldn’t capitalize further.

The focus now turns to Morocco, where Samartex needs to win or draw with a big score in order to move on. Raja will advance with a scoreless or 1-1 draw.

Samartex faces a challenging task to maintain their Champions League hopes due to Raja’s passionate home support and intimidating atmosphere.
