The Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has alleged that the Electoral Commission (EC) has disclosed that mistakes found in the voters’ exhibition exercise were deliberate.

In a Facebook post made by Dr. Boamah on September 11, 2024, he exclaimed, “Ridiculous!”, pointing to allegations that the EC has admitted to some of the errors in the register being deliberate. He charged the Commission with “rationalizing their criminal manipulation” after being “caught pants down.”

“Following OUR DEMAND FOR FORENSIC AUDIT, the Electoral Commission now says some of their mistakes were deliberate. EC, no rationalization after the facts is acceptable! We maintain that the EC is a crime scene, and the voters register is unfit-for-purpose”, he emphasized.

“Last night, the EC shockingly disclosed an AFTERTHOUGHT after they’ve been caught pants down! Speaking through the new Director of Electoral Services (Benjamin Bio on TV), the EC announced and rationalized that they deliberately added voters who transferred their votes in 2020 to 2024 transfers”, he added.

Mr Boamah also claimed that more than 243,540 voter transfers from 2020 had been deliberately added to the 2024 transfers.

“243,540 Previous Transfers illegally added to 2024 Transfers, including Repetition of illegally Transferred names.”

“Let’s face it, even before we would share the fullest extent of the errors with them, they’ve started rationalizing their criminal manipulation of the register, which would have gone unnoticed but for our #EAGLEEYES”, he added.

The former minister maintained that the voters’ registry would remain “unfit-for-purpose” in the absence of an urgent forensic audit. He listed the demands made by the NDC, which included re-exhibiting the register after the audit** and dealing with the file corruption that keeps the names and images of registered voters hidden.

The NDC’s findings, which highlights a number of problems such as unidentifiable voter paths and more than 15,000 occurrences of unauthorised voter registration, support Mr. Boamah’s request for a forensic audit.

“Answering these questions honestly and truthfully through an independent forensic audit is non-negotiable and essential for safeguarding the credibility of Ghana’s electoral process.,” Boamah declared.

Meanwhile the Enough is Enough demonstration is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 17,2024 at 9:00am in all 16 regional capitals.
