The Mortuary Workers Association has announced a nationwide strike beginning Thursday, September 26, 2024, in response to poor working conditions and unresolved issues.
General Secretary Richard Kofi Jordan in a statement dated Tuesday, September 17 indicated that the government has not addressed key concerns, including insufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) that leaves workers vulnerable to diseases.
The workers are also facing unpaid salary arrears dating back to 2020, and their request for financial clearance to hire 500 additional staff has been overlooked.
Additionally, they demand the payment of a COVID-19 bonus that has not yet been disbursed.
