Parliamentary Candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asuogyaman constituency, Pius Enam Hadzide has hit back at criticisms of his pledge to help his constituents travel to the United States should he become a Member of Parliament.
In an interview with GHOne News, Mr. Hadzide said he failed to see the wrong in committing to facilitate such travels.
“What is wrong with a Member of Parliament assisting his or her constituents who are capable and willing and who are interested in traveling to travel? There is nothing wrong with it.
“My mandate is to ensure development comes to our people. My mandate is to facilitate the upward mobility of the constituents of Asuogyaman and for those of them who are interested in traveling to either watch the match, those of them who are interested to travel to work because as I said, they have the skill, they have the interests to travel, they have the intention to travel,” the former deputy Information Minister argued.
Hours earlier, the MP hopeful had at a campaign stop in his constituency, promised to facilitate the travels of young people to advanced countries including the United States to watch the FIFA 2026 World Cup.
Mr. Hadzide insisted his comments were premised on the fact that the world was a global village and citizens the world over could travel anywhere to stay.
