The Concerned Citizens Against Galamsey in Ghana have kicked start their three-day protest against illegal mining also known as galamsey from Thursday 3rd of October to the 5th of October 2024.
They are also demanding the release of the 53 Democratic Hub protesters.
The Ghana Police Service has expressed its preparedness to uphold peace and order during a forthcoming demonstration organized by the “Concerned Citizens Against Galamsey.” The protest, scheduled from October 3rd to 5th, will see participants marching from Okponglo, Legon, to Independence Square in Accra. “We have put in place sufficient security measures to ensure law and order during the demonstration and beyond,” affirmed Assistant Commissioner of Police, Grace Ansah-Akrofi.
