Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has issued a strong warning to anyone considering engaging in electoral fraud during the upcoming elections in the constituency, stating that such actions will put their lives at risk.
Speaking to residents of Nudu and surrounding communities on Friday, the MP revealed intelligence reports suggesting plans by some individuals to engage in electoral malpractices.
He claimed that there are plans to use pre-thumb printed illegal ballot papers, which would be smuggled into ballot boxes by individuals wearing long-sleeved clothing.
Mr. Nyarko accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of planning to resort to underhanded tactics to win the Asuogyaman seat, but assured constituents that the NDC is fully alert and ready to protect every vote cast.
As part of his campaign for re-election to a third term, the MP mentioned tall lists of projects and his achievements, emphasizing various developmental projects in health, education, youth empowerment, and other areas made possible through his 5% share of the MP’s Common Fund.
He also criticized the NPP and its parliamentary candidate, along with the Asuogyaman District Assembly, for failing to complete any significant projects during their eight years in power in the constituency.
Former Minister of Communications and Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has criticized President Akufo-Addo for refusing to release the investigative report into the Australian visa scandal involving Pius Enam Hadzide, who was the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports at the time.
Dr. Omane Boamah claimed the President’s decision to clear Pius Hadzide without publicizing the report was a move to protect fraudulent dealings.
He argued that Hadzide’s demotion from Deputy Minister to CEO status was an attempt to shield him from parliamentary vetting and potential rejection.
“In this election, Asuogyaman Constituency has a choice between a potential Minister and a fraudster who was a deputy minister. Because his government feared he would not be able to go through vetting they did not reappoint him even as deputy Minister. Do you think if he is sent to parliament he stands the chance of being reappointed to go through vetting again? That will not happen”, Dr. Omane Boamah stated.
He added “Ask yourself why President Akufo-Addo, the clearing agent has refused to release the report. All these should tell you that, in this election, Asuogyaman has a choice between a decent man Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, and a fraudster, and I have no doubt in my mind that between a fraudster and a decent man like Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, Asuogyaman will make the right choice.
He also hinted that Asuogyaman MP Thomas Ampem Nyarko, seeking re-election, is a potential minister in the next NDC government due to his competence and guarded integrity.
“If you are voting for an MP consider an MP whose President is coming to Power in just January and has the potential of becoming a Minister”.
Dr. Omane Boamah called on voters to support Thomas Ampem Nyarko over his opponent, asserting, this election, Asuogyaman has a choice between a decent man, Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, and a suspected fraudster.
