The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Kwetey, has issued a strong critique of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, accusing them of leading Ghana into economic and moral collapse over the past eight years.
Speaking at a rally in Atimpoku after a joint mega walk by Asuogyaman and North Tongu constituencies, the chief scribe of NDC warned that if the NPP remains in power, “Ghana will be gone forever.”
He averred that Ghana has witnessed a systematic destruction beyond the erosion of our economy and infrastructure that have resulted in a moral collapse.
“Over the last eight years, we have seen systematic destruction of this beautiful country. What we are seeing is not just the destruction of our infrastructure it is not just the destruction of the economy of our country. It is not just the worsening of the poverty of our people. What has happened which is worse than all that has been the moral collapse of this beautiful country. If we allow this gang to remain in power for four more years this country will be gone and gone forever”.
Fiifi Kwetey said allowing the NPP and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to remain in power for another four years will spell doom for the country.
“A vote for Bawumia is actually a vote for the most corrupt, the most dangerous, the most humiliating, the most disgraceful government in the history of our country. We have to make sure that NPP as a party, Nana Akufo Addo as President, and Bawumia as his Vice president and flag bearer are totally humiliated come Dec 7”, Fiifi Kwetey cautioned.
He assured the gathering that NDC leadership will do everything possible to protect their votes come December 7.
“We want to assure you that in the name of the leadership of the NDC we shall do everything possible to ensure that your votes are protected come Dec .7 2024”.
North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also addressed the gathering, stating that his recent expose’ on distribution of 22,000 bags of expired, repackaged rice to Senior High Schools (SHSs) across the country earlier this year is act of wickedness and insensitivity adding that such scandals can only be fully investigated and perpetrators punished under an NDC government led by John Mahama through the implementation of the “Operation Recover All Loot” policy.
Asuogyaman MP Thomas Ampem Nyarko assured his constituents that under an NDC government, development in the area would continue. He pointed out plans by the NDC to revive the Volta Lake Transport system, Akosombo Textiles Limited to create jobs for the youth and reiterated his commitment to championing local development if re-elected.
He accused his opponent Pius Enam Hadzide of tainted with corruption and incompetence in his role in the Australian Visa scandals.
Other speakers at the event, including Kwame Governs Agbodza, MP for Adaklu Central, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, MP for Ketu South, Alexander Hottordze, MP for Central Tongu, Kobla Woyome, MP South Tongu, Owuraku Amofo former Deputy Minister of Communication urged residents to retain Thomas Ampem Nyarko as MP not to vote for Pius Enam Hadzide who is engaging in tribal politics.
Governs Kwame Agbodza warned the Electoral Commission (EC) against any electoral malpractices in the December 7 polls stating that the NDC will accept nothing short of declaring John Mahama president-elect
