A cholera outbreak in the Kasoa enclave has resulted in the deaths of 5 individuals, with a total of 30 cases reported at the Kasoa Polyclinic and Mother and Child Hospital.
The cholera outbreak at Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region has raised concerns among health personnel.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Awutu Senya East, Hon Anita Love Obo Amissah confirmed that, three of the victims died on Thursday night while two of them also died on Friday Afternoon making a total of five.
In an Interview on Ghone News with Yaw Boagyan, the MCE said, the number of the cholera victims increased from 20 to 30 as at Friday afternoon and is calling on people living at Kasoa to be vigilant.
Anita Love Obo Amissah also praised the health workers at Kasoa Polyclinic and Kasoa Mother and Children Hospital for working hard to savings lives.
She said, some of the cases were referred from the Gomoa East District to Kasoa Polyclinic due to lack hospital in their District.
Meanwhile, Awutu Senya East Municipal Environmental Officer Godson Lodo called on Ghanaians to desist from buying food in an untidy environment and also charge food vendors to cook from clean environment to avoid the outbreaks.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
