Former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu is calling on the Electoral Commission (EC) to release the serial numbers of every ballot paper printed for the upcoming December 7 general elections to promote free, fair, and transparent voting without irregularities.
He expressed confidence that John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will form the next government and urged the commission to ensure credible election processes.
The lawmaker disclosed this at a mini rally in Lamashegu, during a visit by NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama to the Tamale South constituency on his Northern Regional tour.
According to the lawmaker, the demand for serial numbers would allow the NDC to monitor ballot distribution and identify any potential irregularities in the polls.
“What we ask of you is that we need the serial numbers of every ballot paper printed for each region, for each district, and for each constituency. This is all we are demanding in the name of transparency.
“We want to know the quantity, and the serial numbers, so Northern Region, we want to know where our serial number starts and where it will end, so that we can follow it to Ashanti, and follow it to the Eastern Region. If we find a ballot paper meant for the Northern Region in any region, we expose your fraud and your intention for irregularity in the elections”, Haruna stated.
He continued: “We are very convinced, we are very, very convinced, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that John Damani Mahama will win a free, fair, credible election.”
