The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, Patrick Boakye Yiadom has been declared the MP-elect for the Obuasi East constituency.
Re-collation was ordered by the Electoral Commission chairperson, Jean Mensah in a press conference on Thursday, December 19 as a result of rejecting the initial results of some constituencies.
The returning officer for Obuasi East before declaring the results stated that they were forced to declare the initial results.
” After the collation on the 8 December, we were forced to declare the results, so the results were declared under duress”, he disclosed.
He continued that after a meeting with the committee they have come up with the correct collation results and that NPPs Boakye Yiadom won the constituency.
” Meeting the committee and the consideration, we have come out with the correct results. And these are the results of the parliamentary”
“The candidates, number one is Patrick Boakye Yiadom, number 2 is Samuel Aboagye, and the independent candidate, Agyei Owusu Afrigyie”, he narrated.
He mentioned that Patrick Boakye Yiadom of the NPP had 18,558 votes, Samuel Aboagye of the NDC had 18,539, and Agyei Owusu Afrigyie the independent candidate had 425 and on that note Boakye Yiadom of the NPP with the highest number of votes was the MP elect for Obuasi East.
