The leadership and entire membership of the General Agricultural Workers’ Union (GAWU) of the Trade Union Congress-Ghana (TUC-GH) has extended their heartfelt congratulation to the Ministers designate for Agriculture, Eric Opoku, and Fisheries, Emilia Arthur.
“These appointments we envisage represent His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama’s resolve and commitment towards improving the agricultural sector to reclaim its place in the economy and we applaud him for that
“As a Trade Union representing workers within the formal and informal sectors in the agriculture, we are assured of your unflinching support towards developing the sector as was emphatically communicated to us in July, 2024 when the Union engaged the Agric committee of the NDC manifesto”, Andrews Addoquaye Tagoe, General Secretary for GAWU indicated in statement.
He continued: “Agricultural workers and by extension farmers face several systemic and structural challenges stemmed out of the declining investment and prioritization of the sector.”
