Minister-designate for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo says the 24-hour economy policy by President John Dramani Mahama aims at enhancing productivity, creating job opportunities, and reshaping the Ghanaian economy.
Speaking during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Thursday, Pelpuo emphasized that the policy seeks to maximize the potential of the Ghanaian workforce through an improved 24-hour working arrangement.
“The 24-hour economy is a policy by President John Dramani Mahama proposed to the people of Ghana, and it is a commitment to ensure that we engage the Ghanaian worker effectively. The whole commitment is to boost production, create more opportunities for our people to work, and ensure the reshaping of the economy”, he said.
The 24-hour economy initiative, a key campaign promise of the Mahama-led administration, seeks to encourage businesses, industries, and public services to operate around the clock, thereby increasing productivity and employment opportunities.
The minister-designate’s endorsement of the policy aligns with the broader vision of the government to drive economic growth, enhance job creation, and optimize resource utilization.
He assured the committee that the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment would work towards facilitating the successful implementation of the policy to ensure its benefits reach all sectors of the economy.
