MTN Ghana on Monday donated items worth Gh¢5,000 to the Kumasi Central Mosque ahead of the Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations.
According to the network, the gesture is to also congratulate the Muslims in Ghana for a successful 30-day period fasting which was replicated worldwide.
The items donated by MTN included a ram, bags of rice, packs of cooking oil, non-alcoholic beverages, packs of bottled water and airtime.
Senior Manager at MTN Ghana for General Trade, Northern Ghana, Simon Amoah told Ultimate News: “Our Muslim brothers have come to the end of another Ramadan festival and of course as a company, MTN, we also believe in worship; so this is an act we’ve done to worship God.”
“We came here with a ram, food items, assorted drinks, water, airtime all worth Gh¢5,000 and this is to say congratulations on a successful fasting.”
He reiterated the network’s commitment to building stronger ties with communities where they operate and support them the best way possible.
“The consistency comes from the fact MTN tries at any point to establish positive relationships with all segments of our communities and our customers. This is to ensure that we also drive home that point that, we do some of these things to basically show our leadership of the market and the fact that we believe in relationships with all manner of persons.”
Mr. Amoah moreover made special mention of the amazing offers, Muslims enjoy especially during the holy pilgrimage of Hajj annually.
“When people are going to Hajj, we’re the telecom company that gives them SIM cards to ensure that they roam at a much reduced cost and stay in touch with their family and friends.”
The MTN Northern Ghana Boss for General Trade finally assured MTN has opened its doors for engagements focused on community development and change.
The Special Assistant to the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, on behalf of the Kumasi Central Mosque, expressed their gratitude to MTN Ghana for their kind gesture.
