Operation Ghana, an NGO based in Ahwerase Akuapem in the Akuapem South District, has donated educational and learning materials worth over US$6000 to some deprived communities in Wa in Upper West Region, Atebubuin the Bono East Region, Ahwerase in Akuapem South and Mempeasem, East Legon in the Greater Accra Region.

The gesture was aimed at Promoting education in rural and deprived areas.

Laud Kwakye, CEO, Operation Ghana, said, the items were donations made to him by a church, Reveal Vineyard Church, in Arizona in the United States to support needy communities. “We have just started with the distribution of the first batch of items and still looking forward to do more, at least to help solve some families problems,” he said.

Mr. Kwakye noted that Operation Ghana was deeply moved by the basic needs of the rural communities in the country and charged corporate citizens to channel more of their Corporate Social Responsibilities to the rural communities because they need them most.

He further pleaded with government to put in place a comprehensive social intervention programme for people living in rural commuities in area of skill and vocational training to enable them be able to cater for some of their basic needs.

He urged churches and other religious organisations to show more love and support to the needy since that is a charge from God. This being the first of its kind, the team were happy to see families come in their numbers to receive the gesture.

Items donated include backpacks, books, pens, pencils, shoes, dresses, toys etc. The Operation Ghana team is in preparation and soliciting for supports from people who have and are ready to give to impact more lives in December.
