King Faisal pulled off a great win against Legon Cities on match day 31 of the Ghana Premier League at the Ohene Amyeaw Park Thursday to boost their Premier League survival hopes.

Though Legon Cities headed into the fixture off the back of an amazing resurgence in the second round of the League – Faisal were in buoyant mood ahead of the match – with battle for survival on their mind.

King Faisal scored in either half of the game through Kwadwo Frimpong and star man Kwame Pepprah to beat the Royals. The Green and Whites came into the game with a fair result against Medeama SC (1-1) at Tarkwa and were bent on picking the three points to save their blushes.

It was Kwadwo Frimpong who opened the scoring 22 minutes into the game after a combination play from midfield. The two sides continued to keep an eye on a goal but luck shined on King Faisal who took the lead before the half time whistle.

Back from recess, star man Kwame Pepprah who has dip in form in the second of the campaign got on the score sheet 11 minutes into the second half. The goal will do his confidence a lot of good after netting the equalizer against Medeama in a 1-1 draw at the Akoon Park.

King Faisal have lost five in the last seven and are now 15th in the table tied on points with Eleven Wonders and one point ahead of the drop.

They will travel to neighboring Obuasi to face second placed Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay stadium on Saturday. While Legon Cities – 10th in the table with 38 points host Bechem United at the Accra Sports stadium at 7pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Moro Sumaila scored a hat-trick to give Ebusua Dwarfs a famous 4-1 win against Karela United at the Nduom Sports complex at Elmina Thursday afternoon.

The match day 31 fixture which was originally scheduled for CAM Park at Ayinase was moved to Elmina due a temporary ban of the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.

Moro Sumaila opened the scoring in the 12th minute after he was set up by Ishmael Antwi. The Crabs increased the tally four minutes after the break – with Moro getting on scorer sheet again. Coach Kuuku Dadzie’s side netted the third goal through substitute Enock Afram whose close range effort found the bottom corner in the 67th minute.

Karela United reduced the deficit in the 78th minute with a goal from Kamaradini Mamudu – who connected a pass from midfielder Umar Bashiru to beat goalkeeper Bright Quaye.

With nine minutes left on the clock, Ebusua Dwarfs dashed any hope of a comeback by putting the game to bed in the 81st minute. Moro Sumaila scored his personal third to complete a hat-trick to ensure they claimed all three points to keep their survival hopes much alive.

Karela will travel to Sogakope to take on Liberty Professionals on Sunday with Ebusua Dwarfs set to face leaders Hearts of Oak in Cape Coast.
