Former Black Stars player, John Paintsil says Ghanaians should manage their expectations for the Black Stars at the FIFA World Cup.
Ghana has been housed in Group H with Uruguay, Portugal and South Korea in the world’s flagship tournament slated for November in Qatar.
Speaking on Starr Chart on Starr FM, John Paintsil who featured in two World Cups as a right back says the current Black Stars team is in a rebuilding process and Ghanaians should be measured in their expectations of the team at the World Cup.
“We have to manage our expectations though we have full confidence in them that they can go and do well.” he said.
He also revealed that in tournaments, the Black Stars serve as a motivation to other nations because of our tag as a football nation.
“Nowadays football has changed and don’t forget that Ghana is a football country. We motivate any country that plays against us, they don’t motivate us so there is a lot to talk about when we loose”. He said.
John Paintsil also revealed the future of the current crop of players of the Black Stars is very bright but for now we should not expect much.
“So for me, going forward I think our stars and future is very bright but our expectations should not be much. Three of four years from they can win something” He added.
