Scores of residents in the Sekondi Takoradi metropolis have hit the streets to demonstrate on a myriad of issues confronting the metropolis.
They enumerate a number of issues, including poor roads, security among others which they demand the government should address under the slogan ‘SEKONDI TAKORADI DESERVES BETTER’.
The protest which began as an online movement was part of efforts to seek development for the metropolis which they claim remains under-developed.
Some concerned citizens of Sekondi Takoradi have been calling on the leadership of the region, especially Sekondi Takoradi to ramp up efforts to resolve some pressing issues confronting the city.
The demonstration is geared at galvanising concerned citizens to protest for better roads, security, among others.
The protesters clad in red and black wielded placards with inscriptions such as ,” Paa Grant’s ghost is not happy with his roundabout “ , “ Improve tourism in the region” “stop Galamsey in the region”, “the worse now comes from the west not the best”.
The protesters after their route through the principal streets of Takoradi through to Sekondi had expected to present their petition to the Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, however they were refused entry by the police as the Regional Minister according to sources was not around.
According to the protestors, they are not relenting as they intend to protest again come December.
