Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor, Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on women across Ghana to make history by supporting the party in the December 7 elections to elect the country’s first female Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who is the running mate to the party’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

He said Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang becoming Vice President will break the glass ceiling for all women in Ghana and open doors for women to rise to the highest levels of governance.

Dr. Kevor stressed Prof.Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s trailblazing role as Ghana’s first female Vice Chancellor of a public university, which subsequently paved the way for women to take up similar leadership positions in academia.

“Ghana has had a female chief Justice, and a female speaker of parliament, what we have not had is a female Vice President and President. This year, join the NDC to make history for women. We the men have decided to support the women to make history. She was the first female Vice Chancellor of a public University her appointment paved the way for others Let’s vote John Mahama and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, to pave the way for more women to rise”, Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor to women.

The Regional chairman stated that empowering women is crucial for national development, especially since women make up the majority of the population and face numerous challenges.

He said when women are empowered, the entire country benefits, urging women to join the NDC to secure a brighter future for themselves.

He said this during a two-day campaign tour to the Eastern Region by the Running Mate.

During the tour, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to addressing the issues facing women in Ghana, particularly if John Mahama is elected as President.

She said John Mahama prioritizes problems confronting women, and as Vice President, will work hand in hand with President to ensure that women’s welfare is at the forefront of the country’s agenda.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also outlined several policies aimed at empowering women, including the establishment of a National Women’s Development Bank, the provision of free sanitary pads, the construction of modern market centers with daycare facilities, and free apprenticeship training programs for women, free admission to tertiary institutions which will ensure the majority of women progress academically.

She said all these initiatives are designed to help women achieve economic independence and improve their standard of living.

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku -Agyemang who rounded her tour in Asuogyamang urged voters to vote massively for John Dramani Mahama and NDC Parliamentary candidates to enable the next NDC government to have the majority in Parliament to approve all these policy interventions for implementation.
