Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, chairman of Ghana’s national beach soccer team, the Black Sharks, has commended Ghanaian referee Jasper Robinson’s exceptional performance in the ongoing Beach Soccer Afcon in Egypt.
The Ghanaian referee was appointed as the 2nd referee for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations match between Senegal and Malawi, which ended in a 6-1 win for Senegal.
In recognition of his impressive performance, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah commended Jasper’s contributions for his outstanding performance.
“So he’s actually officiated in the match between Senegal and Malawi. He was the man in charge of that game, his first game here. And we’re very proud of him. And it also shows that we have potential”.
“We need to also push the other side. It’s not just about the players playing. We need to push for people in CAF, where the beach soccer committees and, you know, the panels sit in terms of the different layers, you know. So it’s a whole package. And for the referees, I’m very happy that Jasper has made it” he said.
Yaw Ampofo Ankrah further emphasized Ghana’s dedication to enhancing its international sports officiating presence.
“Hopefully this would encourage other referees to also follow his lead. And if we have two, three, four referees from Ghana, they get to go up, they become match commissioners and other officials, they penetrate. And that would also help our game back home in Ghana”.
“So yeah, delighted for him. Did a good job, had no issues. he’s excelled and we’re delighted that at least when Ghana was losing on the pitch we had a referee who was winning on it for us” he told GHOne TV.
