A delegation from the Council of State, led by Chairman Nana Otuo Siriboe II, has assured Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin of its commitment to address recent challenges that led to the indefinite adjournment of parliamentary sessions.

The meeting aimed to gain insights into the situation and explore solutions to restore legislative proceedings.

Speaker Bagbin provided an overview of the issues and assured the Council of his commitment to Ghana’s democratic process.

The Council, in turn, expressed its readiness to assist in resolving the impasse, recognizing the Speaker’s pivotal role in upholding the integrity of Parliament.

Chairman Nana Otuo Siriboe II praised the Speaker’s efforts, urging him to continue his work in the interest of Ghana.

However, the Supreme Court has dismissed the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin’s application to set aside its orders staying the ruling that declared four seats vacant on October 17, 2024.

According to the Apex Court, the grounds of Speaker, Alban Bagbin’s application for the Apex Court to set aside its Order on October 18, 2024, has no merit.

The Supreme Court further stated that it would be a misapplication and misinformation for the applicant (Speaker) to say that the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction.
