The National Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has said that the election is not about cutting heads but counting them.
Addressing a press conference held by the NDC at the party’s headquarters, the communications officer said that no single civilian should lose their life because of an election “Because elections are about the people’s free will to decide for themselves those who deem fit to lead them“ he stated.
Sammy Gyamfi further elaborated on how eight innocent Ghanaians were shot and killed during the 2020 elections, those shot in broad daylight at Techiman South, and Silas; a teacher trainee doubling as an evangelist was stabbed and murdered by New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Banda.
“The NDC calls on the inspector General to of police(IGP) who’s double as chairman of the election security task force not to allow any person to go contrary to his authority“, he said
He called on the IGP to stop the election rigging plot by Brigadier General Opoku from embarking on another Tachiman killing.
“The IGP owes a duty to the people of Ghana to be fair and fair-minded to ensure peace during and after the December 7th election and in this regard we the NDC assure him of our fullest cooperation“.
Brigadier General Opoku is currently in the position of General Officer Commanding (GOC) central command which is one of the highest ranking jobs in the military hierarchy of the nation
