The Akwamuhene of Akwamufie, Odeneho Kwafor Akoto III, has called for unity and full support for Ing. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo who has been appointed by President John Mahama as Acting Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority.

The respected traditional leader described the VRA Chief Executive office as a sensitive position that requires maximum support from all stakeholders.

He made this call when the new Acting Chief Executive of VRA along with some key members of management paid a courtesy call on the Akwamuhene at Akwamufie.

Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, who is also the paramount Chief of the Akwamu State, said Ing. Obeng-Kenzo’s appointment to lead Ghana’s main power utility provider has come with great responsibility and called for deeper collaboration with Akwamuman.

He noted that Ing. Obeng-Kenzio’s success in office will depend largely on the support he will receive from his management team, staff and all other stakeholders of the VRA including communities and traditional leaders.

“The work is not easy and he will need all your support,” he told the entourage that joined the Ag. Chief Executive at the Palace.

Odeneho expressed profound appreciation to the Ag. Chief Executive for leading a high-powered delegation to pay a courtesy on him at Akwamufiue and to commiserate with him on the departure of Nana Asamoah Yeboah-Afari, the Adantamhene.

“This is the first time I have seen the Chief Executive of the VRA leading a high delegation of such people to visit us at the palace. It has never happened before,” he retorted.

Reminiscing the achievements of past chief executives like E.L Quartey, Casely- Hayford, AEK Kalitsi, E. Antwi Darkwa, among others, he said, “it is now Obeng-Kenzo’s time” and urged him to work hard to leave a legacy that people would remember him for.

Ing. Obeng-Kenzo flanked by the Deputy Chief Executive in charge of Finance, Dr Ebenezer Tagoe, some departmental heads and managers, thanked the Chief and the people of Akwamufie for the peaceful coexistence VRA had enjoyed over the past 63 years.

He said, “the VRA wants this relationship to continue” and noted the Authority was ever ready to work with the traditional leaders and to take counsel from them so to strengthen the bond and the relationship with the people of Akwamufie.
