The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has announced the suspension of salaries for certain employees on the Government of Ghana (GoG) Payroll System due to discrepancies in their National Identification Authority (NIA) numbers.
In an official statement dated March 20, 2025, the department revealed that a routine review uncovered inconsistencies in the NIA numbers submitted by some employees, leading to the withholding of their March salaries.
To resolve the issue, the CAGD has requested Heads of Human Resource (HR) departments to submit a staff list (Nominal Roll) of affected employees. This submission aims to facilitate a comprehensive investigation and ensure the timely release of salaries once the inconsistencies are rectified.
The statement, signed by Sylvester Acquah, Acting Deputy CAG for Payroll Management, directed HR heads to retrieve the terminated employees’ data from their respective corporate emails. The corrected information, along with explanatory remarks, must be submitted electronically by April 4, 2025.
“To facilitate a comprehensive investigation and the subsequent release of salaries, affected institutions are requested to submit the staff list (Nominal Roll) of employees impacted by the issue,” the statement read.
For further clarification, employees and HR officials are advised to contact Naakie Osam-Sackey at 0244371804 or Michael Arku-Kelly at 0554428943.
The CAGD’s directive underscores the government’s efforts to streamline payroll management and eliminate discrepancies within the system. Employees affected by the suspension are urged to cooperate with their HR departments to ensure a swift resolution.
