A new Governing Board for the National Service Authority (NSA) has been officially inaugurated at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment in Accra, with a charge to enhance efficiency, innovation, and accountability within the institution.
The 15-member board is chaired by Emmanuel Okai Mintah and includes representatives from key ministries, agencies, and the private sector. It is expected to provide strategic direction and oversight for the operations of the NSA, which oversees the deployment of thousands of Ghanaian graduates across the country for national service each year.
Board members include Dr. James Asare Adjei (Association of Ghana Industries), Cecilia Sheitu Nyadia (Ministry of Technology and Innovation), Colonel Frederick Aboagye Kasapa (Ministry of Defence), and Dr. Wisdom Atiwoto (Ministry of Health). Others are Emma Ofori Agyemang (Ministry of Youth Development), Kwabena Denkyira (Ministry of Local Government), Paul Siamen (Ministry of Food and Agriculture), Shadrack Mensah (Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations), and Matilda Azumah (Ministry of Education). Presidential nominees Henrietta Asante and Elorm Goh also join the board.
Felix Gyamfi, the Director-General of the NSA, is also a member of the newly constituted board.
Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Hon. George Opare-Addo, urged the board to address long-standing administrative inefficiencies such as the issue of ghost names and work towards aligning the service scheme with the needs of the 21st-century job market.
He emphasized the president’s vision of a reformed NSA that not only deploys graduates but equips them with practical skills and instills in them values of discipline, patriotism, and integrity.

In his remarks, Board Chair Emmanuel Okai Mintah thanked the President for the appointment and pledged to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to position the Authority as a world-class institution. “We are committed to ensuring that the National Service Scheme becomes a transformational platform that responds to the country’s development priorities,” he said.
Director-General Felix Gyamfi expressed optimism that the new board will inject renewed energy into the NSA and support efforts aimed at increasing the scheme’s efficiency and relevance.
The inauguration comes as the Authority embarks on several reforms, including digitization and a renewed focus on skill development for service personnel.
