Four emerging public universities across the country are set to benefit from a GH¢40 million seed funding, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu has announced.
These universities include; the C.K. Tedem University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Navrongo, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UNER) in Sunyani, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho and S.D. Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SD-UBIDS) in Wa.
Speaking as the special guest of honor at the 5th Congregation of the C.K. Tedem University of Technology and Applied Sciences in the Upper East Region on Saturday, June 21, 2025, Mr. Iddrisu explained that the money as approved by parliament through the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) is intended to ensure that tertiary institutions have the necessary resources to develop and provide quality education.
“This government is fully committed to nurturing our young public universities, ensuring they have the necessary resources to develop and provide quality education that meets the demands of our evolving economy,” the Minister stated.
He added “This seed funding a testament to that commitment.”
According to the minister, each of these institutions will be provided with GH¢10 million to aid their developmental projects and operational needs.
The fund is also expected accelerate the growth of these institutions by expanding infrastructure, improving academic facilities and boosting research capabilities to meet global standards.
It is also expected to significantly contribute to Ghana’s human development and technological advancement.
