The Ministry of Education has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with eLearning Africa, formally positioning Ghana as the host of the 18th edition of the eLearning Africa Conference, to be held in Accra from June 3 to 5, 2026.
The brief ceremony, held at the Ministry had in attendance officials from the Ministry, representatives from eLearning Africa, and key stakeholders in the education sector.
In his remarks, the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak welcomed the partnership and affirmed Ghana’s readiness to host the continent’s premier digital education event.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to using technology to transform learning outcomes and ensure equitable access to quality education for all learners.

“This agreement reflects our broader national agenda to embrace innovation in education and strengthen Ghana’s leadership in the digital learning space,”the Minister said. “We look forward to welcoming Africa and the world to Accra in 2026.”
Dr. Apak also described the MoU as a step forward in Ghana’s educational transformation.
He underscored the importance of the conference in highlighting Ghana’s efforts under key initiatives such as the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) and the Education Strategic Plan (2018–2030).
The Deputy Minister also demonstrated how Ghana, through the SCALE initiative, has attracted significant international support from partners including the Jacobs Foundation, Botnar Foundation, UBS Optimus Foundation, and leading cocoa and chocolate companies. This support is enabling GALOP to reach over 15,000 schools, benefiting 2 million learners and 64,000 teachers.
“This is more than just hosting a conference, it’s a chance to demonstrate how innovation, technology, and partnership can drive real impact in education,”the Deputy Minister stated.

The MoU sets the stage for close collaboration between the Ministry and eLearning Africa in the lead-up to the 2026 conference, and aligns with Ghana’s vision of becoming a center of educational excellence in the region.
