Four 10-year-old girls took center stage in the latest episode of the Best Girlfriends Podcast, where they presented and debated their manifestos in the BGF presidential election designed to inspire leadership and civic engagement among Ghanaian children.

The episode, released on Saturday, July 26, and dubbed ‘Presidents in Ponytail’ featured Viphine, Kelly, Babette, and Elaine outlining their visions for Ghana if they were president for a day.

The episode forms part of a girl-child empowerment storyline, which encourages children to think critically, express their ideas, and engage in structured debate in a bid to take on leadership roles.

Viphine, running on a “Happiness Agenda,” pledged to make life “happier, safer, and kinder” for all children. Her three-point plan included: Ice Cream Fridays, a weekly celebration for hardworking children. A playground in every neighborhood to encourage friendship and outdoor play and a Kindness Dance Club to promote fitness and stop bullying, where children would learn to treat others with respect through dance and fun.

Kelly, on her part, emphasized economic improvement, environmental protection, and education reform. Her manifesto promised: better schools and equal education access for underprivileged children, a cleaner Ghana through reduction of plastic waste, cultural pride and national unity through stronger social programs, and a fair and just leadership approach that “leaves no one behind.”

Babette tackled infrastructure and agriculture. She committed to: fixing Ghana’s bad roads, starting with her own community, improving classroom conditions by buying more chairs, tables, and building school facilities, and making healthy food affordable by promoting chemical-free farming of fruits and vegetables.

Elaine presented a wide-ranging agenda focused on education, transportation, and health. Her plans included: abolishing corporal punishment and replacing it with detention in schools, providing school buses and better classroom facilities for public schools, building child-friendly hospitals with youth-specific labs, upgrading public transportation by fixing railways and banning tricycles and okadas, which she said are prone to accidents, and creating community playgrounds so “people don’t have to travel far to play.”

The girls went head-to-head in a debate segment, defending their policies and challenging each other’s proposals in front of a mock electorate.

Viewers, especially on social media, are invited to vote for their favorite candidate in the comments section as part of the ongoing BGF election experience.

The Best Girlfriends Podcast is a weekly children’s program produced by Egli Studios. Aimed at girls aged 8–13, the show combines fun with learning and tackles themes such as leadership, talent development, social awareness, etc, with episodes like

New episodes premiere every Saturday at 10 a.m. on GHOne TV and Egli Studios YouTube channel.

Creative Director and Executive Producer of the Best Girlfriends Podcast, Aggor Yorm, explained that this episode aims to equip young girls with public speaking skills, confidence, and a sense of civic responsibility in a safe and relatable way.
