Ghanaian winger, Joseph Paintsil, stole the spotlight on Saturday night with a sensational hat-trick that inspired LA Galaxy to a dominant 4-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City in the Major League Soccer (MLS).
Playing in Week 32 at the Dignity Health Sports Park, Paintsil wasted no time making his mark, firing Galaxy ahead after just four minutes. He doubled his tally in the 24th minute following a well-worked team move, before Dejan Joveljic briefly pulled one back for Kansas City three minutes later.
The Black Stars forward, however, restored Galaxy’s momentum with a third goal in the 43rd minute, completing a stunning first-half treble. His brilliance ensured the hosts went into the break firmly in control.
Galaxy sealed the result in the 60th minute when Diego Fagundez added a fourth, with Paintsil once again instrumental in the build-up play.
The hat-trick places Paintsil in elite company, as he becomes only the third player in Galaxy history to score a first-half hat-trick—joining Robbie Keane (2013) and Alejandro Moreno (2004).
