The Ghana Police Service has dismissed widespread rumours suggesting that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has passed away.
In a statement dated Sunday, November 30, the Service described the claims as entirely untrue, stressing that the IGP is “alive, healthy, and fully engaged in the execution of his mandate.”
Senior officers confirmed that Mr. Yohuno has been working throughout the week and continues to oversee key security operations.
The Service urged the public, including officers and relatives of the IGP, to disregard the circulating misinformation, which it described as both “malicious and irresponsible.”
The Police further warned individuals behind the viral falsehood to desist from spreading panic and noted that deliberate dissemination of disinformation is an offense.
Investigations are expected to trace the sources of the rumour, with offenders set to face legal consequences.
The statement reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to transparency and urged the public to rely on official communication channels for credible updates.
